We had the privilege of sharing about London, United Kingdom based artist and producer, Austel in April this year, with the release of her stunning album, Feathers. You can read the article here.

Annie Rew Shaw, the woman behind the musical project, Austel, creates hauntingly ethereal sounds that lay the foundation for her beautiful, introspective and reflective lyricism, inspired by combining her background in classical music with her loves of ambient textures, cinematic soundscapes and contemplative electronica.

Inspired by an eclectic mix of artists such as Bon Iver, Thom Yorke, Cocteau Twins, Jon Hopkins, Nick Cave and Elliott Smith, Austel has been seen playing at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, How The Light Gets In Festival, Rough Trade Nottingham and Sofar Sounds in London, Bristol and Berlin.

In collaboration with artist, producer and engineer Ruby Smith (aka post-dusk), the latest single release from Austel, ‘Cut Me Down’ tells a story of a relationship that ended before it began.. a story of ‘love lost and lessons learned’.

The dream pop single, explores a soundscape filled with analogue synths, layered vocals and a ‘a rhythmic conversation between piano and drums’.

‘Cut Me Down’ is a song that truly captures your attention as you listen through the intricate layers of the track.
