Trisha & Thara: Turning Back Time and Erasing Past Mistakes

Square

As I explore the world of musical artists, I am regularly faced with musicians that wow me.. however, every now and then, I come across something truly special.

This is certainly the case with pop sister duo, Trisha and Thara.. These US teen sisters are not only talented.. their lyrical maturity in their songwriting is well beyond their years.

As you listen to their tracks, you will notice harmonies that blend together in a beautiful way that hints that they were made to sing together… and you can feel the strength of their bond and connection, working together throughout their music.

The pair respectively started their musical journeys at just 4 years of age, when they began to play the piano.. since then, they have played in many big Chicago based musicals such as Lion King Jr. and Annie Jr..

Trisha and Thara released their debut single, ‘You Used To Be‘ in August 2021 and are now back to share their latest single, ‘Regret‘.

Would you like to start by telling us a little about yourselves?

Our names are Trisha & Thara, and we are a teen pop sister duo from the Greater Boston area.

Music is our passion, and we love writing originals and creating music together.

We have performed in many different cities across the country, opening at festivals and popular city shows.

What first made you decide to work together as sisters with your music?

Music has always been a part of our life starting with Piano and Voice lessons since 4 years of age.

In Chicago, we were introduced to Rock music and were part of the School of Rock band and enjoyed singing harmonies together.

Since moving to Boston in 2019, we’ve performed at many local open mic events and continued to work together.

Music has brought us closer as sisters and performing together gives us joy as we continue to create new memories that we can cherish for a long time.

Trisha: “I always admire how Thara picks up piano pieces very quickly, and hits high notes effortlessly. It’s always really fun to perform with her.”

Thara: “I love the way Trisha expresses the right level of emotions in every song she sings. You don’t need music; you can just listen to her sing all day long. I can’t imagine doing a show without her.”

Although we have different ideas when it comes to creating/making music, we collectively put them together to create great melodies and lyrics.

How would you describe the feel of your music?

Our style of production leans towards a blend of modern and indie pop.

Our followers and friends say that our songs are powerful, emotional, and soulful.

You have recently released your single, ‘Regret’. What was the inspiration behind the creation of this track?

After we finished writing our debut single ‘You Used to Be’, we felt the story was left on a cliffhanger.

“You used to be” is about a special someone who you loved the most and is not around anymore.

We built on that idea in the new song ‘Regret’, to show the emotions when one leaves a relationship and wants to reverse that decision, but the other person has moved on.

What would you like listeners of this track to take away from listening to the song?

‘Regret” makes you want to turn back time, have another chance at love, and erase your past mistakes.

At just 14 and 16 years old, your lyrics are so emotional and deep. Where did the lyrics from this song come from?

We had a great vision for Regret’s storyline as it was a continuation to our debut single. That made it easier for the verses and chorus to flow well.

In fact, to show the connection between the songs, we’ve added a phrase ‘And I remember how we used to be”.

What did the creative process look like for ‘Regret’?

When we sat down to write the song, lyrics came to us naturally as we had set the groundwork in our debut single ‘You used to be’.

We decided to have an impactful bridge to show the difference between our 2 songs.

We worked towards adding background vocals and intricate harmonies to make the emotions stand out. All our hard work came to life when we hit the studio.

Our lyrics, our production ideas combined with additional inputs from Brad Young, producer at BKY studio enriched the song further.

Where do you find your inspiration for your music?

Streaming platforms have really opened our eyes to so many talented artists. We listen to music all the time and enjoy different genres of music as well.

We are inspired by what happens around us and by past and present legendary singers and bands.

What would you like to see happen for you in your music from here?

We would love to grow our following, get local radio & press coverage, and for our song to be placed in TV shows or movies.

What is one message you would like to share with your fans?

Earlier this year, after one of our performances at Hard Rock Cafe, Boston, a couple walked up to us and said they absolutely loved our music.

They also said, ‘Never stop believing in yourself and continue to pursue your passion’.

Both of us believe in this message and continue to focus on our creative process and the hard work that we put into our music and harmonies.

Positive results and better outcomes follow when we put the required effort and passion into anything we do.
