It’s been a year since we caught up with Alt-Pop artist, Anna Leeworthy, with her 2020 EP release ‘Go Figure‘. She is back to share her latest single release, ‘Sirens’.

Anna welcomes us to a world of Misfit Mania.. A place where you can explore an honest and vulnerable Alt-Pop musical world.. with songs likened to those of Benee, Clairo or Lorde.

Within her music, she intertwines aspects of the soundscapes that we know to be pop and adds in her own unique individual flair

Honesty, openness and vulnerability are key to the expression within Anna’s music, and she has hopes that as you listen, you will experience a sense of the emotions that run raw throughout her songs.

Within the below interview with Anna, we explore more of what lies behind the inspiration and mythology of Anna Leeworthy’s new single release ‘Sirens’.

The track has been released today, 1st October 2021 and you can have a listen to ‘Sirens’ below:

It’s been a year since we caught up with you on your EP, ‘Go Figure’.. What has been happening for you since then?

Interestingly enough, I made the decision to take down all my music from last year! It’s a beautiful thing to be able to hear/measure your growth, and when I drew a comparison between my latest single ‘Misfits’ and my 2020 projects, they just weren’t at the same standard.

Since my 2020 releases, I’ve been writing….like every day! I’ve met some amazing producers, been on tour backing Tones and I, and have really just been practicing my craft!

What would an average day look like for you right now?

Right now I’ll work from home 8am-4pm, then I’ll get out for some fresh air, and then I’ll be back in my studio writing/recording (both with myself and others via zoom etc).

It’s been such life saver for me to keep creative throughout the world’s toughest lockdown!

How have Covid-19 lockdowns affected the music you are now creating, compared to the music you were creating prior?

Well as I’ve had significantly more time to myself, the lockdowns have really just allowed me to write more and more! I’ll aim to write at least one song every day, and the more I write, the more I reflect and stretch my ability. I’ve also been able to delve deeper into who I want to be as an artist, so the more I finetune that, the easier the creative process becomes.

Before, my music was a bit more impulsive, but the people I’ve met throughout lockdown have taught me how to become a more considered and deliberate artist.

You’re releasing your single ‘Sirens’ 1st October 2021.. What inspired you to create this track?

This track was written about the mythological creature a ‘Siren’. The feelings the track explores are relatable and quite frankly ‘normal’. But it felt kinda cool and ‘exclusive’ the write it from the perspective of a mythological killer.

What did the creative process look like with ‘Sirens’?

It looked like 30 mins at a piano, and then months of finetuning with my producer/friend Nick Zaharias. It’s funny how quickly a song can initially come together, but then you really need to perfect it in the studio, produce the track, mix everything etc, and that takes time!

What would you like to see happen with your music from here?

I would love to hear one of my tracks played on radio, or be able to play somewhere live, for real human people.

What would it take for you to feel like you have been successful in your music?

So long as I continue to put out songs that are true to who I am/what I experience, then I’m successful (in my eyes lol)

What is the best piece of advice you have been given when it comes to your music?

Don’t try to be “the next [insert famous artists name here], be the first “Anna Leeworthy”

What is one message that you would like to share with your fans?

That you’re not alone, I’ll be your friend, be unapologetically true to who you are
