5 New Releases We Are Loving Right Now

Square

We are really excited to share 5 new releases that we are loving right now and to help you discover some new music and artists that you can add to your rotations.

These artists all have their own unique style, but they have two things in common… All are Independent artists and all have a connection to Australia.

1. Katanak – Pinch Grip

From the moment Katanak’s ‘Pinch Grip’ begins to play, you can feel the energy in the room building.. It’s an energy that will have you dancing around the room in a way that is almost impossible to contain!

The Indie Rock/Pop track is filled with addictive electric guitar sounds and drums, as as a signature to this Sunshine Coast based artist, bouncy and vibrant vocals to boot.

While this track makes you want to dance and is filled with fun, yet somewhat dark and gritty vibes, if you take a listen to the lyrics, the song has a much deeper meaning.. Katanak is telling a story of someone that we all either know or have known.. a story of unrequited love.. a story where a friend was in a relationship, where the other would neither commit, nor let them go.

If you love this track, head to the below links and listen to more of his music, or perhaps you might consider vibing in the energy at one of his Brisbane or Sunshine Coast gigs!

2. Kate Westwood – Thrive

If you are looking for a track that will uplift, inspire and bring on the self-love feels, Kate Westwood’s ‘Thrive’ is where you will find it.

As the track begins, you will already start to feel the positivity rolling in with the happy guitar based instrumental.. however, when the lyrics start to flow, this is where the story truly reveals itself..

This is a story and a declaration.. a story of a Kate Westwood.. or a you.. or a me.. who is growing and becoming.. who is learning to accept and love herself (or himself)..

It’s a declaration that ‘I am here’.. ‘I am standing on my own two feet’ and ‘I will Thrive!’

While this song speaks deeply from Kate’s heart, we believe that it is a story that so many of us can relate to and ‘Thrive’ will be a song that inspires many people for years to come.

Damien Jones’ track ‘Why Do It Alone’ is filled with fun and positive vibes and asks a simple question.. ‘Why do it alone?’

With a distinct sound of ukulele, Damien shares the importance of sharing those special moments with the most special people in our lives and celebrating those moments with those we love most.

The track was written by Damien on his family farm in May 2020 and was inspired by the love and companionship between himself and his dog and the song brings that same feeling of joy and positivity to all that listen.

4. Amy Lyons – Out Of The Ashes EP

Amy Lyons has released her 4 track EP, ‘Out Of The Ashes’, which as you listen to the songs, you hear roots of deep exploration through Amy’s own personal growth journey.

These tracks provide inspiration and motivation for us all to look at our own lives, without fear, and to rise out of the ashes of our own pasts, insecurities and perceived imperfections.

Throughout each of these tracks, you will hear a story being told, both through the lyrics of the songs but also the development of the music. The tracks contain a cinematic feel with synth waves running through from the beginning and then raw piano and strings to develop and progress the story.

5. Gwyn – Ready When You Are

As you begin to listen to ‘Ready When You Are’.. Sydney-based Gwyn’s latest single, what immediately pours into your ears is the beautiful simplicity with a vintage feel.

Gwyn’s vocals start with a soft honest conversational message.. ‘Maybe you’ve been hurt before.. maybe you’re scared’.. As you listen to this beginning, you could easily be convinced that she is directly speaking to you.
