Nuria better known as Nur, is the daughter of the Angolan singer Eddy Tussa, and granddaughter to the late Roy Mukuna, a musician from one of the most renowned bands in Tanzania, “Maquis Original”. At 17, Nur began her journey in the music industry under the name Black Beautty in her two home countries, Angola and Portugal.

Over the years, she made a name for herself as a multi-genre artist, performing songs ranging from Afro-dance, Afro-pop, RnB, and Neo-soul. As a result, she quickly gained a growing fan base in both countries.

In 2019, Nur made the move to London to study Music Business and familiarize herself with the business side of the industry. Her time in London has helped challenge her creativity and better establish her artistic direction, in turn gaining further recognition internationally.
That’s when she decided to refresh her name and image to show another side of her artistry. Her current sound, which is inspired by the people and genres she discovered in London, still retains her African influences, increasing her opportunities to reach markets across the globe.

Her new track “Let Me Go” is the perfect example of her new sound. The song stands as a scintillating Amapiano track, relatable to anyone navigating the choppy waters of heartbreak and liberation from toxic relationships. The idea of the song came at the end of Nur’s end of a past relationship and discusses her internal conflict.

Nur divulges the inspiration behind the single, sharing, “The song is about freeing myself from a toxic environment. I was in a situationship with someone who clearly had feelings for me but wouldn’t commit to me. When I confronted for more responsibilities into the relationship, he denied. It’s the reason why I say in the song, ‘You had the keys yet you chose not to enter.’ From there it was a downfall. I told him to let me go but deep down it was me that needed to let him go because I couldn’t believe it was over, even if it was necessary.”

With its infectious beats and poignant lyrics, “Let Me Go” encapsulates Nur’s journey of self-discovery and empowerment. She is definitely an artist to keep an eye on
