Janeuary’s latest single, “Awakening,” is like a breath of pure spring air in a world that is often littered with noise and busy-ness. The song opens with the magical tinkling of piano notes that are soon joined by dreamy strings, setting you into a peaceful and tranquil mode and ready to float through the track.
Imagine yourself walking through a serene garden, the sun quietly tugging at your skin, and suddenly it dawns on you: “Awakening” was the soundtrack to this quiet time.
Janeuary is a Ukrainian alternative composer and vocalist. Although her song has a personal feel to it, it also covers a lot more ground. In every note, she attracts listeners to a world of self-contemplation and wonder, where emotions shine slowly.
Janeuary says, “For the first time, I felt not like I wrote music alone but that it was written for me. And that’s why I listen to it every time, like for the first time. My heart stops.” And, after one hurtling nosedive into the divine harmonies of “Awakening,” one can’t help but feel their genuine ardor in every word.
The best depth and, on top of it, richness was given by the collaboration of classical famous musicians from Ukraine on the composition. Where Viola leads, you feel infinity, where the cello blankets you with velvet warmth, and the piano surrounds you as a soft embrace. It is as if the very music takes on life, becoming interconnected with the cosmic dance that captures the soul.
Mixing and mastering occurred behind the curtain, done with pinpoint precision and accuracy by Janeuary’s father, Andriy Kravchenko.
A music video was shot among the rich greenery of the Kyiv National Botanical Garden, humanely suited for joint video footage with the song for the bewitching melodies of this song. It’s viewing gives a sense of being taken into some real reality, where nature easily conjugates with music.
And music is the code of love, the code of love in its utmost lost language. With “Awakening,” Janeuary encourages us to find this language anew and discover the long-forgotten regions of feelings unexpressed.
