With their latest single, “there” WOTTS surprised their fans by straying from their typical upbeat pop sound. The song showcases more contemplative sides of WOTTS, opening with strong piano chords and violin that lead into a laid-back drum beat and dreamy vocals.
WOTTS vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jayem produced “there” as part of a deliberate experiment to expand their creative boundaries by stripping back their sound in order to push themselves musically. Influenced by The Beatles, WOTTS added their own special twist by featuring strings performed by an expert violinist for the first time – all while giving this track their signature sound.
From their heartbreak-focused EP “PETALS,” “there” is an exciting step forward. On the contrary, the words of this song, which embrace having someone adore you for who you are and healthy, unconditional love, are upbeat and celebratory. According to Jayem, this song is a “happy sad song,” referring to its theme of discovering someone who accepts you for who you are without attempting to mould you into someone else.
WOTTS have no plans of slowing down as they prepare to release their next EP. Fans who have followed them musically should get ready for an unforgettable musical journey ahead.
