Irish singer, songwriter & horticulturist Samuel Blaney embarks on seasonal transition with the flickering warmth of ‘Ember’

Samuel Blaney, talented Irish singer, songwriter, and horticulturist, introduces his first single ‘Ember’ to the world. The song marks the beginning of a series of tender love songs that symbolize the transition of seasons. Throughout these releases, Blaney will take listeners on a journey “throughout a winter into a spring”.

Blaney’s creative process involved capturing organic moments of connection with the natural world around him, which served as the inspiration for the formation of ‘Ember’ and the other songs in the series. The songs were written in single takes, often recorded at dawn, and emerged from dreams or vivid imagery. Uniquely, no lyrics were prepared or written in advance, allowing for a sense of vulnerability and exploration in the songwriting. The tranquil and spacious surroundings, filled only with the sounds of birds and animals, contributed to the tender and intimate nature of the songs.

Deeply embedded in the natural environment, Blaney’s themes, content, textures, and lyrics reflect his close connection to the world he inhabits, whether it be in Ireland or Western California, the two places he calls home.

‘Ember’ was expertly produced by film composer and artist Adem Ilhan in both the UK and Ireland. The stripped-back, raw, and resplendent sound highlights Samuel Blaney’s extraordinary and intimate vocals, allowing the sincere lyrics to shine through.

To visually capture the essence of the song, the emerald-hued music video was conceptualized and directed by Adam Prieto.
