The music scene has been blessed with another promising act – Secret Lung. Comprising of Jess Porter (vocals/guitar/keyboards), Brycey (bass/vocals) and Evan Lee (drums/vocals/programming), these three musically inclined friends have come together to create something truly special. The trio have been friends for years and have worked in other projects, but it was in 2022 that they decided to form Secret Lung.
Influenced by Biffy Clyro, The 1975, Silverchair, Gang of Youths, Bon Iver, My Chemical Romance and The Mars Volta, Secret Lung promises to bring a unique blend of emo lyrics and festival-banger riffs that are bound to captivate their listeners. The band will be making their official launch at Bonez Alternative Queer Party as part of the Midsumma Queer Arts and Culture Festival on February 4th. This event is not to be missed!
The single, “Phantom Limbs” was recorded and produced by Ash Daws and drummer Evan Lee at the Loud Noise Estate in Williamstown. The combination of Ash and Evan’s studio and approach as producers has resulted in a sound that is truly unique to Secret Lung. The relationship between the band and the producers is only going to get stronger as they release new music.
The single is about a relationship gone sour, and the lyrics are intense and emotionally raw. Jess, the lead vocalist, was in love with a jerk who hurt him and left him with a great song. Most people can relate to this theme, and the band has tried to balance the intensity of the lyrics with upbeat and catchy music, making the single relatable yet fun.
