Swedish indie folk/Americana artist, NOLA has stepped back into the limelight, with her single, ‘Old Trees In Japan’.. After taking a break from releasing, this is NOLA’s first single release since 2019.

Inspired by the sultry sound of Nigerian-American singer, Sade, NOLA touches the souls of her audiences through her feminine transcendent, and heart stopping emotive vocals, and blends it together with nostalgic and poetic lyricism.

Her latest single, ‘Old Trees In Japan’, is the first single release from her upcoming EP, ‘Someone New’.. A deep reflection of NOLA returning to the Americana style she loves, rather than resisting and trying to be other than who she is.

‘Old Trees In Japan’ speaks directly at our need for intimacy and support and the resistance that we use to fight the admittance of our need.. It’s about reconciling our need for independence with our need for intimacy and support and discovering the empowerment that can be achieved through this realisation.

“’Old Trees in Japan’ is about admitting to the yearning of being cared for, but essentially it’s a love song”, explains NOLA. “I am quite proud and usually go by life not asking anyone for too much out of fear of appearing weak, so for me it’s a declaration of love asking for help and support from others. It means that I feel safe enough to let my guard down”.
