Madeline Doornaert Takes Listeners On An Autobiographical Journey With Album, ‘Muddy Water’

Square

I would like to introduce Madeline Doornaert, an inspiring singer/songwriter out of Canada, with a deeply raw and intimate emotional style of acoustic songwriting.

Inspired by some of the most revered 1970s folk pioneers Carole King, Janis Ian, and Buffy Sainte-Marie, Madeline has developed a passion for expressing her poetic and authentic stories through her solo works.

Madeline’s musical background saw her exploring vocal styles between folk, jazz and opera, however after inspiration from Janis Ian’s “Between the Lines” and Carole King’s “Tapestry”, she developed her sound into her own style of retro pop.

Madeline Doornaert’s debut album, ‘Muddy Water’ is a reflective and deeply emotional collection of tracks that explore the depths of a life of experiences. It’s an autobiographical story, pulled together in the form of a beautiful 70’s inspired album of 10 folky acoustic songs.

The songs invite you into their genuinely inspiring world, through sweet soundscapes created with acoustic guitars, analogue percussion and the smooth and warm vocals of Madeline.

‘Muddy Water’ is the perfect album to listen to on a cosy day in, when you have the space to really take in the beauty of the music and the deep stories contained within the songs.
