The great music just keeps coming!

Below is an eclectic mix of five new releases that we are vibing with right now.

1. Youthless – MELÓ (EP)

London, UK based, Canadian/Hungarian artist, MELÓ is passionate about writing music about her most authentic vulnerabilities.

At just 20 years old, MELÓ has played at some notable venues all around the world and since moving to the UK, has played at venues including Amersham Arms and the Moustache Bar.

Influenced by artists such as Hayley Williams, Beabadoobee, No Doubt, Lorde, Daniel Caesar and Wolf Alice, has developed her storytelling style of music through her first three single releases and now brings us her debut EP release, ‘Youthless’.

The story behind ‘Youthless’ is one of growing up too quickly as an outcome of mental health and manipulation.. about acknowledging the pain and toxicity of the environment and then accepting the past to allow her to move forward.

“Growing up I was always told to smile more from people who couldn’t accept that I was no longer the bubbly five-year-old kid I once was. I started making jokes about how ironic I found this comment, as people who know me well, know that I am a fairly smiley person to be around, it’s just that I can no longer fake a smile when I’m not happy. I’m on a journey to accept the hurt, alongside the happy and that is truly what the EP ‘Youthless,’ is about.”

Listening through the tracks on the EP, you will be taken on an emotional journey through songs that feature acoustic sounds, mixed with those more electronic soundscapes.. every song highlights the smooth and alluring vocals of MELÓ.

You will find yourself completely absorbed in the music of MELÓ.

‘Mountaineer’ is a metaphor for that moment where you discover there is no return.. a metaphor of having to cut a loved one loose in order to save yourself.. unpacking the complexities of the shame and necessity of taking action.

“Watching that movie “Touching the Void”, I couldn’t shake the enormity of what those guys went through, of being in that position and having to make that kind of decision.” Jack

4. Every Excuse – Jesabel

At 27 years of age, US based singer/songwriter, Jesabel has rediscovered her passion for music and creativity, having released four singles over the 2021 year.

Jesabel always loved music, however, felt limited by her crippling fear of performing in front of others.. As life progressed and her focus became on family, she felt that a piece of her was unfulfilled. Hearing Kacey Musgraves say “I wanna know what it feels like up there. Doing that freely and with an open heart.”, Jesabel decided to re-spark that passion that she knew was inside her.

Since the decision to follow her passions, she has had all engines firing, releasing her fourth single of 2021 and with no intent on slowing down.

“I’m a big believer in growth, and I know growth happens when we make ourselves uncomfortable. It was time for me, during this dark phase of my life, to get uncomfortable so I could bloom. Make my own light”

Jesabel’s latest single, ‘Every Excuse’, was inspired by the dissolving of a friendship and comes from a place of anger and hurt.
