Young Escapes Lockdown Vibes with Emotional Electronic Pop Song, Broken

Square

Based in Cornwall in the UK, 22 year old electronic producer, Young enjoys mixing around with different sounds and instruments to create a style of music that expresses the emotions he feels at the time of creation.

The sound that you hear from Young can be drawn back to his inspirations, some of which include Gryffin, Avicii, Illenium and Chainsmokers.

Currently all his work is a product of his bedroom creations, however, he is driven by a dream of being a top DJ and producer, travelling the world with his music.

Young comes to us with his latest track, ‘Broken’.

‘Broken’ is a song all about the range of mixed emotions that are felt after a deep heartbreak. All the highs and the lows that are experienced during the healing process.

“No matter what you go through in life someone is always here for you. Keep Chasing your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t.”

You can listen to ‘Broken’ below:

Would you like to start by telling us a little about yourself?

I am Joe Young a 22-year-old from Wadebridge in Cornwall (UK).

I am an electronic music artist, producer and DJ that creates music based on emotions and relatable scenarios a person faces every day.

What was it that first inspired you to begin a career in music?

I made a big transition to music through lockdown where I was feeling trapped with nothing to do.

I felt music an amazing escape for me and taught myself the ins an outs of creating music.

How would you describe the feel of your music?

My music is a mixture of electronic and pop sounds mixed with commercial sounding melodies which I believe gives off an emotional, yet catchy feeling amongst an upbeat dance baseline and chords.

I feel that there is always something for everybody in my music and it will show as I release more tracks in the future

At just 22 years of age, you have so much drive and ambition with your music.. what is it that motivates you most within your music?

Music gives me a space where I can express conflicted feeling and seeing it turn into a project which people can relate too and enjoy is something amazing and gives me more drive and passion for music.

This makes me want to just create more and build something special and connect with people that support my music.

You have recently released your single, ‘Broken’.. what was the inspiration behind the creation of this track?

The song instrumental was produced when I was having conflicting emotions with a lot going on in my life.

I feel the track represents some emotional highs and lows I was experiencing as I came back to work on the song no matter what I was feeling, from the emotional guitar melodies to the happy dance pianos in the background.

What does ‘Broken’ mean to you?

Broken is a track that I will forever hold closely to me as I have spent a long time finding a way to mix all my favourite sounds to create a unique emotional but catchy vibe.

I hope to expand on this sound in my future releases to mix popular dance and electronic music with different sounds as well as the guitars used in this single.

What did the creative process look like for ‘Broken’?

Broken originally started out as a dance/slap house track but as my feelings towards the song changed, I wanted to try and create something more unique.

After the chords and baseline were done, I looked for emotional guitar melodies to counter the original project I had created.

Once I had an idea it seemed to counter the baseline of my song well giving you the sound you here today on Broken. The vocals added were done by a talented vocalist (who wishes not to be named).

I found her after sending out many requests and gave a basic outline of what I wanted.

From there she nailed it with her crispy vocals, and I feel her emotions contrasted amazingly with the original instrumental that I had created.

Where do you find your inspiration for your music?

My inspiration comes form listening to different artists such as Gryffin to dance artists such as Avicii who is a major inspiration, I’m sure.

I love combining the two different genres of dance and electronic to make my own sound based off primarily these two artists.

What would you like to see happen for you in your music from here?

I would love to keep pushing to create more songs now I have found a sound I am happy with and hopefully one day get to play at events and different venues.

I would also love to continue building a fanbase that can relate to my music and one day be able to get enough funding to release bigger projects and more music as right now I am only a small artist that has still never been into a music studio!
