Covid-19 has been a time filled with so much change.. so much fear and so many questions.. it has caused so many of us to sit back and reflect on life and what it is that we are doing..
Out of that reflection, it has been so incredible to watch some of the incredible innovations that have been born and created..
This is the ‘out of the Covid ashes’ story of three talented RMIT university students, who had the dream to support and nurture Melbourne based creatives and music businesses.. to uplift the Melbourne local community after such a challenging year.
Madison Woods, Alannah Sawyer and Eleni Vitale (pictured below), have successfully spurred their dream into action, with the creation of Foley Magazine.
They have recently released their second edition of the mag, titled ‘Lost in Atlantas’.
“In this edition, we wanted to create a serene space that embodies a sense of freedom and the unknown. We chose the theme of ‘Lost In Atlantis’ with imagery of aquatic animals, mermaids, and nature as we felt as though it represented the opportunities that will be available in 2021 for the music industry.”
“COVID-19 is still lurking in the deep but momentarily we have surfaced and can bask in our new-found liberty. We hope to swim past the troubles of 2020 and bathe in the lush corals of creativity and positivity in the new year. We touch on topics such as community, inclusivity, Coronavirus, inspiration, feminism, and much more! We are super excited to see what these people achieve in the future.”
So what can you begin to turn the pages?.. This is a magazine about music.. about local talent.. community togetherness and inclusivity.. or in the words of Foley Magazine co-founder, Eleni, it is ‘our aim of creating a space where local alternative artists are given the freedom to showcase their works in whichever way they please’.
The magazine aims to bring together faces from all different facets of the music industry, from musicians to record labels to radio shows, visual artists and creative writers.
Edition #2 of Foley Magazine is available now to purchase for $20 via website.
