London-based artist easyclear returns with new single “The Woods”, a dynamic and genre-blurring track that captures the tension between the natural world and modern existence. Released on April 11th, the single offers a glimpse into the upcoming debut EP Green, out April 25th.

Built around delicate acoustic guitar and poetic, shanty-like vocals, “The Woods” gradually unfolds into something much bigger. Layers of synths and percussion rise into a wall of distorted guitars and pounding drums—an emotional release that feels both intimate and cinematic. It’s a bold statement from easyclear, channeling the likes of Westerman, Djo, and Arthur Russell into a sound that’s entirely his own.

The Woods charts a journey from the car to the woods and back again”, explains artist Luke Deacon, the creative force behind easyclear. “It’s a simple trip that sparked a really powerful existential moment. It starts as a folk song and then explodes into another dimension, reflecting that clash between the digital world and nature.

Deacon’s background in bands like Young Khan and Kid Jupiter has clearly shaped his sound, but easyclear is its own universe—one where ghostly synths, classical guitars, and vivid storytelling co-exist. With roots in folk and a mind in the future, “The Woods” feels like a journey through both.
