Before It’s Gone: The Rolling People’s Bold Statement of Ambition and Growth

Square

The Rolling People are a buzzing alt-rock quartet hailing from the heart of Stockport who have released a new EP, Before It’s Gone, via LAB Records. This six-track offering caught this band in prime condition, as they marry emotional depth with raw, infectious energy—hallmarks in which this band has cut their teeth. It is a bold statement of intent besides being full of powerful anthems pulsating through urgency, ambition, and that ever-present awareness of the slipping away of time.

With the insistent bass line allied to a real soar of a chorus, “I’ll Be There” is one of those rare tracks that just gets right under your skin from the very first play. It’s a song born out of a spur-of-the-moment jam, capturing the band’s drive for constant evolution. There’s something infectious with the energy here; raw but polished, spontaneous yet controlled. One can see readily why this track has quickly become one of their fan’s favourites. This is most definitely The Rolling People at their dynamic best, from storming guitar riffs to the authoritative vocals of frontman Charlie McNichol.

The title track “Before It’s Gone” comes along and really serves as the emotional and thematic centrepiece to this EP. There are synchronised guitar riffs and impassioned vocal delivery courtesy of McNichol, somehow managing to be an anthem to anyone who has ever felt the pressure of fleeting opportunity. The composition may be elementary, but therein lies the magic in its execution. The song is pulsating with an intense energy that signals the band is feeling its confidence grow, leaning further into its strengths in an urgent, deeply compelling sound.

The final album song on the EP is “Better Man Acoustic,” a remake of an older song. Raw and stripped-back, this really is a perfect tribute to the fans in as much as it shows proof they can change with time yet not lose one speck of their roots. He brings into the song again new chord progressions and harmonies that give it yet another feel, and it’s a powerful reminder that The Rolling People can lay down just as much emotion with an acoustic guitar as they can with a full-blown rock anthem.

Before It’s Gone by The Rolling People weaves together an EP of songs that feel urgent, emotive, and deeply human. It is thus consecutively setting in concrete their undisputed flair to stir listeners unto a gut level. If up until now you had not been paying attention to The Rolling People, now is the time—seize the moment before it’s gone.
