NYC-based melodic house producer Exstra is back with a new release, “Frozen”, via Enormous Chills. Known for blending dark analogue sounds together with beautiful organic tones, Exstra sure knows how to keep us moving on the dance floor. Over the last 10 years, he has had the opportunity to perform at tons of incredible venues around the world and worked with powerhouses in the electronic music scene.

Growing up in Valley Stream, New York, Steven Landis (the brainchild behind Exstra) was heavily influenced by the poppy electronic music of the late 90s, including artists like Robert Miles and Le Bouche. His initial entry into music involved playing the cello and singing in choirs, even performing in the Vatican. However, it was witnessing Avicii live during his university years that truly inspired him to pursue a career as a DJ.

After graduating in 2013, Exstra moved to NYC and quickly became a staple in the city’s nightclub scene, performing at venues like Shadowroom and Opera. The COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 gave him the opportunity to focus on music production, leading to his first record deal with Enormous Chills just four months later.

His new release, “Frozen”, is all about hypnotic beats and a cinematic atmosphere. The track incorporates an orchestral breakdown that slowly evolves to eventually peak in a very emotional but danceable drop. This is melodic house at its very best and trust me, you don’t want to miss it out.

‘Frozen’ is inspired by the strength of our Bengal cat, Yuki, who successfully beat a deadly virus known as FIP. The hypnotic, expressive lead captures the feeling of uncertainty while the driving groove carries you forward on an emotional journey that tells a story of hope and perseverance, perfectly capturing Yuki’s warrior spirit!” – Exstra
