London’s music scene is buzzing with excitement as Afterz drops their debut double single, “Soul Searching / Palme D’or”. Afterz teamed up with Azekel for the track “Soul Searching”. On top of the milestone it is for Afterz to have their debut release out to the world, it is also a musical escapade that spans from London to New York to Lagos. The songs are a surprising blend of electronic beats with mesmerizing vocals and powerful flows.
“Soul Searching” kicks things off with Azekel’s silky R&B vocals gliding over a mix of Latin, Afro, and jazz-inspired beats. It’s a total vibe, made even richer by Ikaey Asanga’s soulful saxophone melodies. Then there’s “Palme D’or”, a track that takes you on a wild ride through rap verses, pounding drums, and industrial vibes, keeping you hooked from start to finish.
When asked about the inspiration behind “Soul Searching”, Afterz share, “The song is about the moment when you’ve finally arrived in front of what you’ve been searching for in life, whatever that means to you personally, and the feeling just before you are about to embrace it.”
Azekel adds, “Working with Afterz is a way for me to express a different side of myself – one that incorporates Afro styles and disco/electro. It’s building on the Afro disco sound I’ve been working on. It’s a new sound, a new vibe and identity working with Afterz.”
Led by the talented duo of producers Troy. and Très Chill, Afterz isn’t just about the music; it’s a whole vibe. Their debut release is just the beginning of what promises to be an epic musical journey, full of surprises and musical delights.
