Rock music may not immediately conjure images of Mid-Wales, but Shop Front Heroes hopes to challenge that idea with their debut album, “SuperPowers”, and highlight that great music knows no geographical bounds.

‘SuperPowers’ conveys the spirit and essence of Shop Front Heroes through sound, making it evident from the very first note that it’s more than just an album collection. “Killer” gets things going powerfully instantaneously, establishing the tone and showcasing Stevie Yeomans’ strong yet sensitive vocals—a theme that throughout the entire record.

Another amazing song by Shop Front Heroes, “Caer Bryn”, showcases their ability to create mood and depth through guitar work lead by Jake Owen that is skilfully threaded between melodies to provide levels of emotion that linger long after the song ends. Each person adds something unique to the mix, and together, they all create the lush ambience of this album.

Stevie Yeomans doesn’t hold back when discussing the band’s process of forming SuperPowers, from taking out loans from nearby companies to write songs in an old, rustic barn perched on a hill, their commitment to keeping things real is evident in every song.

The album features collaborations that enhance its depth and richness. Yeomans had guest musicians include male voice choir members from their hometown choir, friends, and former bandmates. These individuals added a sense of community to the record by honouring shared experiences and recognising the effort that goes into creating something truly exceptional.

Shop Front Heroes, as Yeomans puts it, “We are so proud of what we have made. It’s not easy to produce and release an album yourself, but we’ve done it properly and couldn’t be happier with it”. We completely agree – This is an album to be proud of.
