12-year-old Carson Ferris is a rising star in the music industry, and it’s no surprise why. With a passion for music that began at a young age, Carson started taking guitar lessons at the age of 6 and has since honed his skills through playing in rock bands at Dave Wilbur’s Rock Lab in Orem and with the acclaimed One Voice Children’s Choir.
When the world shut down in 2020, Carson didn’t let that stop him from making music. Instead, he struck out on his own and began releasing his own original pop songs with a rock influence. His favorite band of all time is Journey, and his music is heavily influenced by oneRepublic and solo acts like Ed Sheeran and Alec Benjamin.
Co-written by LA based award-winning songwriter Jasmine Crowe and MYKYL, recorded in Provo’s June Audio recording studio, engineering by Maren Gayle, vocal production by Jen Marco, mixed by Adam Turley and mastered by Eric Disero, his latest single “Drive Alone” is a powerful and relatable song about making difficult decisions and standing up for yourself.
The lyrics “should I stay or go, everyone tells me as if they know, feels like I’m being towed, like I’ve lost all control” immediately draw the listener in and set the tone for the rest of the song. The song is a follow up to his 2021 release “Can’t Be Without You” which was a collaboration with Trinidad Cardona and shows the maturity and growth in Carson’s music.
Carson’s vocals are truly impressive, with a versatility and range that is rare in such a young artist. He easily finds the high notes within the song with a wave of vocal and lyrical emotion.
