Germany’s Luna Keller has returned with a stellar single entitled WOLVES. After successfully releasing her debut album, “Prophecies and Silver Linings,” in April of this year, Keller has been non-stop touring, writing and recording.
WOLVES was written in honour of a couple who formed part of Keller’s online Twitch community. The passing of not one, but both (barely months apart) of these supporters, rocked the twitch community which had sprung up around Keller’s live streamed concerts. WOLVES became the song which helped this international community to grieve and mourn their tragic losses.
“Bringing this song to life was different than any other songs I have worked on. It wasn’t just about making the song good, it was about honouring my friends and creating something my community can find comfort in.”
Introduced by a haunting synth pad and Keller’s finger-picked acoustic guitar, WOLVES eases itself into gear. Upon first listen, the track’s simplicity is deceptive: upon second and subsequent listens, instruments quietly announce themselves, building gentle layers and morphing slowly with every beat. The refrain, “I hope you’re dancing with the wolves,” is delivered both with heartfelt emotion and technical prowess.
The calm, tender arrangement is complemented perfectly by Dominic Romano’s production skills. He is currently working with Keller on her second full length album, to be released in 2023.
