Hope Whitelock has released her second single for 2022: ‘Stoned,’ following ‘Tiptoe.’ Featuring her playful vocal style and an incredibly infectious melody, ‘Stoned’ is a great listen.

With heart-wrenching lines like the opener, “I used to push my body, far beyond what it could do, just in case you’d show up and say I’m proud of you,” Hope says, “Stoned is written for burnt out former gifted kids who just kinda suck now.”

Whitelock however, doesn’t suck. With a penchant for the outdoors (skiiing, rock climbing and hiking among her hobbies) and a PhD in physics not far from her grasp, it’s incredible this woman can find time to write, record and release such stunningly catchy tunes.

Weaving delicate glockenspiel with soulful wurlitzer behind a backdrop of perfectly mixed bass, drums and acoustic guitar, ‘Stoned’ captures a bittersweet, don’t-give-a-fuck mood in the happiest way possible.

The track features Whitelock’s producer Benton Crane and housemate Reuben Wang. Keep your ears and eyes out for more of Hope Whitelock when her next single is released on November 2nd.
