Based in London, United Kingdom, alt-pop artist, Hazel’s music has been experienced by an upbringing of diverse cultures and moving between countries.
Having a Turkish father and a Danish mother, growing up in Switzerland and then moving to the United Kingdom gave Hazel an incredibly creative and holistic outlook on life and experiences.
“I try to reflect the diversity of my upbringing within my music, with each experience creating a vivid new colour in my artist vision.” Hazel
Inspired by the likes of Billie Eilish, Holly Humberstone and Lorde, Hazel has a passion for making the expression of emotions a normality, and to help listeners to feel that they are not alone in their struggles.
Debuting into the music scene with her latest single, ‘Scream’, Hazel expresses the depths of loneliness when being surrounded by people, yet feeling unheard.
Produced and cowritten by Alex Riguerio, ‘Scream’ is an ode to anyone who is feeling lonely, left out, unheard, or misunderstood by the people around them, and allows the listener an avenue of releasing their pent up emotions.
“It started with two sentences (“Am I supposed to be alright? Am I supposed to fake it all?”) and was built up during one session with my producer and co-writer Alex Riguerio. The lyrics and the melody seemed to just flow and it was as if we both needed to write this song because it felt so right.” Hazel
Hazel creates space within this track through understated guitar lines and ambient synth bass sounds, that allow the emotion to flow, and builds the foundation for Hazel’s vulnerable and alluring vocals.
