Based in North West London, United Kingdom, 21 year old bedroom and indie-pop singer-songwriter and producer, Leon Somsouthi is passionate about inviting listeners into a dreamy and chill vibe of personal and intimate storytelling.
Inspired by the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Marina (and the diamonds), Arctic Monkeys, Bleachers, Clairo, Gracie Abrams, Tamino and Boy Pablo, Leon writes, records and produces all of his own music.
As a taster to his upcoming EP, Leon Somsouthi’s latest ’70s inspired folkie-acoustic reflective ballad’ release, ‘Cruel Summer’ tells a heartfelt story of being trapped in the depths of unrequited love. The track speaks of the challenges faced, both socially and mentally throughout the experience of hopeless romanticism.
“I wrote this song in the summer of 2021 at the end of my first year of Uni when I was going through rough times socially and mentally alongside dealing with a heavy case of unrequited love with someone I met that Year.” Leon Somsouthi
With a dreamy and folky sound, ‘Cruel Summer’ provides a melancholic vibe that pulls at the heartstrings, alluding to the pain felt within the throws of unrequited love. The simplicity of the guitar adds to the emotion expressed within Leon’s warm and airy vocals.
