Hailing from Norwich, United Kingdom, pop singer-songwriter, Alex Kate is on a mission to shift the realities of people through poetic storytelling, lyrical discovery and resounding vocals.
With interests within 70’s fashion and poetry, and a sound compared to the likes of Kate Bush and Karen Carpenter, Alex began her musical journey in 2021 with her debut EP and there is no stopping her now.
Produced by Jorgen Manke, the latest single from Alex Kate, ‘Don’t Hold Back’ is a sample of what is to come from her October EP release, ‘Rebel For Love’.
“I wrote this song during a Monthly course with Charlie Puth. He had set us a task to build a track then write the melody and the lyrics last. I usually write songs the other way around, but this way pushed me out of my comfort zone and enabled me to flow in a different way.” Alex Kate
The track was written at a time that Alex was processing a difficult relationship breakdown. The song tells a story of a conversation to the other, saying ‘Don’t Hold Back’ and was shared as a way of allowing both herself and her ex to move on, rather than continue to fight.
“I hadn’t known how to react to the situation, especially as I have been taught to turn the other cheek as I have been brought up in a christian home (my dad is a vicar!) everything inside of me wanted to fight back, but I realised that it was just going to be a waste of my energy, so instead I wanted to say to this person who had hurt me deeply ‘don’t hold back, because then I can say that I am a champion.” Alex Kate
You are sure to be inspired by the control and versatility within Alex Kate’s vocals and left with a message of strength and encouragement.
