PRTLND Explores The Depths Of Consciousness With Single, ‘High’

Square

French-born and living in Ireland, guitarist, singer-songwriter, producer and mixing engineer, Mathieu Cote is the brains behind the musical project, PRTLND.

Inspired by the sounds of 90’s rock, with artists such as Radiohead, Teenage Fanclub and Jeff Buckley, Mathieu began his musical journey at a young age, playing as a part of bands as a teenager and as he went to college. His journey also saw him interning at Sony Music and Virgin Music in France.

As his life evolved Mathieu took a break as he focused on spending time with his young family in Ireland, but now returns as PRTLND brings new life to his musical dream.

Recorded in his home studio and mixed by Jeremy Doyle of Boot Palace, PRTLND’s latest alt-rock single, ‘High’ explores consciousness through a combination of 90’s rock guitar and drums, fused with softer, more explorative vocal sounds.

“I’ve always like the idea of exploring the mind and the consciousness but have been too afraid to take
proper psychedelic trip (except mushrooms 20 years ago!). The next best thing I found was holotropic
breathing and it’s after a holotropic session in The Fumbally in Dublin that the idea for the song High
came out.” PRTLND

Within this track, the message of the power of the mind and consciousness is so powerful. The idea that PRTLND looks for alternative ways to dive into consciousness allows him to discover a deep understanding of his body, his mind and begin to explore what lies beneath. As a result, ‘High’ is a song full of power and depth and an absolute must listen.
