For 23 year old, Vienna, Austria based singer songwriter, Filiah, the love of music and poetry was instilled in her by her mother, who surrounded Filiah with an abundance of records and the sounds of great songwriters.
Her music began at the young age of 10, when Filiah began to play the guitar and write poems, forming the basis for her raw and authentic storytelling and poetic style of writing.
The latest album release, by Filiah, ‘For Someone’ is her most intimate work to date, having written, recorded and produced the tracks herself, during lockdowns.
The tracks from the album work together to take the listener on a journey through self-worth, lost love and letting go of old ghosts. The titles of the songs also come together to form their own poetry, creating a twist in the poetic illustration of her work of art.
“I put all my heart in these songs. The whole process of making this album wasn’t to create something perfectly polished but hopefully something that resonates and makes the people who listen and might need to hear those words feel less alone. Sometimes we feel more than we let on, probably out of fear of getting hurt or making ourselves too vulnerable. For me, there’s so much strength in exactly that vulnerability- and that’s what this album’s about.” – Filiah
