Square

The great music just keeps coming!

Below is an eclectic mix of five new releases that we are vibing with right now.

1. Silk Dress – Ollie Twohill

Based in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia, artist, busker and one man band, Ollie Twohill is well known for his live performances, where he sings, plays the guitar, uses his feet to play the stomp box and incorporates a looping pedal and hi hat cymbal to create his sound and show.

Influenced by the likes of John Butler, John Mayer, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Blink 182, Jet, Neck
Deep and Avril Lavigne, Ollie brings together the skills and talents his highly musical family, with brothers Blair and Lawson playing the drums and bass within his recorded work.

Mastered by Mike Kalajian of Rogue Planet Mastering in New York, Ollie Twohill’s latest single release, ‘Silk Dress’ was recorded along the tourist strip of the sunny Gold Coast Queensland Australia and brings more of a pop-punk feel than his earlier folk, pop and rock vibes.

“‘Silk Dress’ was inspired by me reflecting on being a 5-year-old belting out Avril Lavigne’s “Skater Boy” on Singstar. I wanted to be a musician after hearing that track. She was my Celebrity Crush. At the time I wanted to play in a band with her. So I decided to write a song about it.” Ollie Twohill

The track tells a story of an aspiring and dedicated young artist, determined to make their mark on the charts.. It’s a story about the pursuit of dreams and the work and dedication that lies behind the dream.

This is a track that is sure to inspire you in the pursuit of your own dreams and ambitions.

2. What If – Sautereau

We had the honour of interviewing Swiss born and New York, USA based artist Chloe Sautereau in December 2021, with her release, ‘Conversation Hearts’ (You can read here).

This truly authentic, storytelling artist, Sautereau is back with us to share the release of her single, ‘What If’, a positive and intriguing acoustic guitar led indie pop track, all about exploring the possibilities built on the memorable moments of life.

“What If” is an ode to feeling like you’re on the same wavelength as the person you’re with, more so than
you thought you could be.. It’s about evoking new experiences and discovery, but also an ode to New York City and its little wonders that we often overlook.” Sautereau

Produced by Chloé Sautereau and Toby May at Unagi Sound and mixed and mastered by John Arbuckle at Cove City Studios (who also performed vocals on the track), ‘What If’ is presented to listeners through a percussive acoustic guitar rhythmic groove and the uplifting and sweet vocals of Sautereau.

3. Cold Together – Presley Duyck

We had the opportunity of catching up with Texas, USA based artist, Presley Duyck in November 2021, with her Forbidden love, single release, ‘Juliet’. You can read the interview here.

She returns with her latest single, ‘Cold Together’, a heart-wrenching yet uplifting track that tackles some of the deep challenges that our societies face in today’s world.

With a portion of the proceeds of the single being donated to an organisation that Presley has strongly believed in for many years, Presley wrote ‘Cold Together’ after a close friend was fighting a battle with addiction. In a world with so many people suffering and an epidemic of suicide facing so many of us, Presley has shared her track in the hope that it will bring a light of hope to a listener who may be feeling this way.

Listening to ‘Cold Together’, you are drawn into a raw and authentic story about believing in one another.. a story that shows that we can do this together and that we are not alone.

The soundscape is filled with the effective simplicity of acoustic guitar, piano and drums and then layered with the emotive, story-telling vocals that command your attention throughout the track.

This is a must listen track that will have you beginning to change your view of the world, even just for a moment in time.

4. Illogical Sphere – Sunday Hunter

Brisbane, Australia based alternative pop singer/songwriter, Sunday Hunter has a passion for creating atmospheric soundscapes filled with gritty guitar riffs, sweeping synths, punchy beats and disparate vocals.

Having supported Aussie artists such as Sneaky Sound System and Magic Dirt and influenced by the likes of Frank Zappa and DEVO, Sunday Hunter took a creative break and she has returned with more inspiration and drive than ever, having already released four singles, three of which are solo releases, with an EP on the way and many more releases ready to come.

Mixed and mastered by Jason Millhouse from Recordworks Studios, Sunday Hunter’s latest single release, ‘Illogical Sphere’ brings a sense of well tuned polarity, as the track moves harmoniously between a feeling of serenity and frustration.

“Illogical Sphere is about losing grip on reality and getting stuck in a cycle of illogical thought and behaviour. The illogical sphere is an analogy for the whole world being an illogical place driving us all a little crazy.” Sunday Hunter

The soundscape of the track provides a sense of being disconnected from reality, as if in a dreamlike state, combining the sounds of guitar chords and riffs, building rock guitar and synths and is blended with Sunday’s vocals that move between smooth and dreamy and to a more intense twang as her dynamics shift with the emotion within the track.

5. The Devil’s Gold – Nobody’s Wolf Child

We had the honour of exploring the all immersive, artistic experience of UK artist, Nobody’s Wolf Child in January 2022, with the release of ‘The Fall’ (You can read the article here).

Nobody’s Wolf Child returns with the release of her latest single and cinematic sequel, ‘The Devil’s Gold’, the second release of a trilogy of songs being released via Nobody’s Records.

Building on the drama of ‘The Fall’, ‘The Devil’s Gold’ brings a darker soundscape in exploring the story of the Wolf Child, with the string section completely replaced by the sounds of distorted synths, sinister choirs and towering organs, as the listener is lured through a world of temptation for the Wolf Child.

“As a full 360 project, each song also has its own specific visual counterpart. The visuals are a fundamental part of the storytelling, coming from the very bones of the song. The overarching storyline is about the relationship between the Wolf Child and the outside world. Whilst she discovers her strength, supported and healed by the natural world, she also becomes more alienated from human society.” Nobody’s Wolf Child

To be fully immersed in this project, it’s a must to visually view the story as you listen, to be fully submerged in the artistic creation. Head to the YouTube page below to begin your journey.
