The great music just keeps coming!
Below is an eclectic mix of five new releases that we are vibing with right now.
1. Patterns – Jess Porter
Melbourne, Australia based multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and self confessed lover of weird noises, Jess Porter began his solo career after many years of performing and writing music as a part of collaborative projects, including musical projects, Inuette and Catholic Guilt.
Inspired by artists such as Bon Iver, Joe Jackson, Beck, St Vincent, Regina Spektor, Neil Finn, Paul McCartney and Richard Dawson, Jess Porter has returned to release his first solo single since 2014.
With music inspired by stories collected from his many travels abroad, Jess Porter’s latest single, ‘Patterns’, explores the challenges faced with intimacy, when so many self imposed and societal walls and expectations have been ingrained into us.
“As with many other queer people, I feel like I had a delayed adolescence and therefore I took a longer time to learn (or unlearn) some unhelpful emotional patterns. This track explores the desire to push through self-imposed walls, even when unsure how to.” Jess Porter
Produced by Nick Russell of Kings Closet, the track is filled with a harmonious blend of enticing finger picked acoustic guitar lines, a driving drum rhythm and synth melodies and then combined with vocal lines that draw you into the heartfelt emotion of the story.

2. Vermillion – Nightingale
Another Melbourne, Australia based producer and singer-songwriter, Esmond Angeles’ is the man behind the solo electronic music project, Nightingale.
Heavily inspired by the sounds of RÜFÜS DU SOL, Lastlings and SBTRKT, Esmond created Nightingale as a way to “create meaningful soundtracks to our individual and collective journeys”.
The latest single from Nightingale, and his first release for 2022, ‘Vermillion’, is an upbeat and fun focus on the feelings of joy that are brought about as the Australian summer kicks in.
“I wanted to capture the buzz I had coming into summer after the year we had here in Melbourne.
It was akin to the excitement of coming up to any big event in your life and wanting that time to be
precious, joyful, and forever lasting. You feel youthful, free, and devoted to making things count.
This gave my production and songwriting on ‘Vermillion’ a focus on encapsulating this energy and
feeling.” Nightingale
With a piano house/electronic dance feel, listeners will be transported through an array of soundscapes that blend syncopated piano lines, energetic guitar and a beat that will have you dancing your way into a summer dreamland.. combined with dreamy vocals, the track is one that will leave you feeling that deep sense of joy.

3. Without Me – Giant Head Collective
Residing in the United Kingdom producer, Mark Breingan is the man behind the global collaborative music project, Giant Head Collective.
The idea, originating in Glasgow, Scotland, came to Mark as he was going about his work in producing music for local artists. In production downtime, ideas and songs would begin to form and Mark was looking for an outlet for the music to be heard.
Since this time, the Giant Head Collective has become a coming together of musical minds and talents from all over the world, sharing in a common love of the music.
Recorded during the pandemic in bedroom home studios and produced by Stuart McCredie’s studio, Giant Head Collective’s latest single release, ‘Without Me’ is the opening track for their album, ‘Pandora’s Box’.
“The Album Pandora’s box was brought to life during lock down. not being able to create in a room opened up a new world and a new way of working. It also took ideas in different directions as each person is doing their thing in isolation. Its a different way of working but the internet has allowed us to open the box and we aren’t for shutting it!” Mark Breingan
A track resonating with the sound of celtic guitar, and vocals that soar, ‘Without Me’ tells a story of a woman who has discovered her partner cheating on her and moving towards the realisation that she is better off without him.

4. Humbly Hollow – Finch Faux
Melbourne, Australia based indie pop artist, Finch Faux returns with her fourth single, ‘Humbly Hollow’, from her upcoming album.
We had the honour of interviewing Finch Faux when she released, Never Go Out, the second single from her album.. You can read the article here.
Produced by Tobias Priddle, ‘Humbly Hollow’ was created out of a desire for exploration of new ways to write music. Finch Faux moved from her traditional style of writing with her guitar, to a production method with her computer and recording program.
“I had never really ‘arranged’ any of my songs before; I could hear it all in my head but this was the first time I’d taken it apart in my mind and recorded it all”, Finch Faux explains, “It’s a bit of a premonition track in retrospect, the song definitely took on that vibe.”
The track takes you on a ride through synth bass lines, pulsing rhythms and drum beats, combined with the smooth vocals of Finch Faux. The song dives deep into the subjects of identity and facade.
This is a song that will have you captivated right through until the end and have you longing to hear her upcoming album.

5. People In Their Houses – Greg Bounce
Growing up in the United Kingdom, artist Greg Bounce found his home in Lisbon, Portugal in 2020 after falling in love with the city’s musical scene and creative vibes, during a retreat to clear his mind.
It was this significant life change that led him to the creation of his latest single, ‘People In Their Houses’, the third single release since his move.
“Without sounding like a stalker, I’ve always been interested in houses – small, secretive and hidden spaces where we spend our time,” says Greg. “We glimpse other people’s lives, but it’s weird that a human who lives metres away leads an entirely distant and unknown life.”
Produced by Samuel Jones and recorded at Low Four Studios in Manchester, United Kingdom, ‘People In Their Houses’ was a collaborative journey, with Greg bringing in musicians, Brendan Williams on guitar, drums and Rhodes piano and the artwork created in collaboration with various artists based in Portugal.
Listening through the electronica vibing track, you will be surrounded by an atmospheric soundscape filled with clean, driving beats, guitar runs and keys that shift your state into a musical dreamland and vocal melodies, led by Greg Bounce that draw you in completely.
