The great music just keeps coming!
Below is an eclectic mix of five new releases that we are vibing with right now.
1. Working Late – Fritillaries
Previously known as Rainy Day Women, British based duo, Fritillaries play a blend of 60’s inspired folk and Americana music, with lyrics heavily infused with tones of desire, betrayal and feminist rage.
Having self released two EPs, Gallows Green (2018) and Home (2020), the pair have a love of recording their music live and acoustic, without the use of any added effects to create an intimate sounding production that makes you feel like they’re playing directly to you.
As the first single off their upcoming album, ‘Working Late’ relates to the anger and frustration felt in regards to the treatment of asylum seekers in the UK.
“The people most in need of openness and generosity are greeted with the opposite: decade-long waits for a claim to be processed, the constant threat of deportation, detention or family separation.”
Listening to the track, you will be greeted by the warm and inviting sounds of the fragility of the vocals and subtle harmonies, as well as instrumentation consisting of acoustic guitars, banjo, violins and mandolin.
This is a beautiful addition to your daytime playlists.

2. Work Baby – Yoder
New York, USA based indie-pop artist, Yoder is well known for his light hearted, humorous approach to his music and life, yet combines it with a heartfelt and intimate depth within his songs.
Off the back of Yoder’s sophomore project, ‘Kerblappy’, his latest single, ‘Work Baby’ brings a sophisticated, dreamy sound, combined with his witty vibes, which ‘marries the youthful indie pizzazz of Rex Orange County with the wholesome sentiment of Randy Newman’.
The laid-back, cruisy atmosphere portrayed in ‘Work Baby’, blended with the feel-good vibe, will have you cosy-ing your way into the new season.
The sounds that you will hear in the track surround harmonic guitar sounds and a brass ensemble and are combined with vocal harmonies that create the feel you hear in the song.
Overall, the track brings a unique feel to a feel-good, laid back song.. from the sounds of Yoder’s vocals to the twists in the lyrics.
This is a must listen and one you definitely won’t be disappointed taking the time to really listen.

3. By 2022 – Tom Tikka & The Missing Hubcaps
Finnish rock artist Tom Tikka, one half of the pop duo, The Impersonators, has come together with The Missing Hubcaps for their latest release, ‘By 2022’.
The collaboration between Tom Tikka and The Missing Hubcaps has already scored them a number one place in the iTunes charts twice and another number five placement.
Influenced by artists such as The Beatles and The Doors, in 2021, Tom Tikka also won an International Singer Songwriters Association Award and was nominated for both a Josie Music Award and a Hollywood Music in Media Award.
Moving into the 2022 year, Tom Tikka and The Hubcaps have released their new rock/power-pop single, ‘By 2022’.
“Although this track might sound like a song that’s sung to a toxic lover, it’s actually a song sung to the year 2022.. ‘By 2022′ was born out of an extremely naïve thought that perhaps by the time the year changes, everything will fall into place miraculously.” Tom Tikka
The song, ‘By 2022’ is incredibly catchy and brings a feel of 90’s fun to the table.. It’s a track of lyrical directness, vocals filled with attitude and a beat that will keep your attention as you play the track over and over again.

4. After All This Time – Sun Affair
This is the second time I have written about Wesley Stormer, the Sydney, Australia based songwriter behind the musical project, Sun Affair.
Wesley works in collaboration with a variety of artists to create ‘catchy, feel-good tunes with lyrics from the heart.’
Sun Affair’s latest track, ‘After All This Time’ is the fourth and final single from his EP, ‘First Sign of Light’.
Produced by Tim Coggins and featuring vocals from Rohan Iyer (who appeared in Sun Affair’s self titled release), the song creates a laid-back, chilled atmospheric soundscape that will have you grooving along throughout the song, to the simple beat, featured brass ensemble and the warmth of Rohan’s vocals.
Heading into an Australian summer, you can picture sitting outside in the sun, socialising with friends while this song is blasting out of the boombox.
Overall, the track is a fun, feel-good track that will have you wanting to play it again.

5. Bigger – Ally Cribb
At just 16 years of age, Toronto, Canada based singer/songwriter, Ally Cribb has a soulful voice and a sensitive writing style that goes well beyond her years.
“What I do is all about creativity and imagination: two things that can be found and fostered anywhere.” Ally Cribb
Having inherited the gift of music and songwriting from her musical father, who also produces her work, Ally has always known that musical and creativity were going to be her future and her lifeblood.
Inspired by her heroes, Taylor Swift and Joni Mitchell, Ally’s latest single, ‘Bigger’ is a part of her upcoming EP, ‘Unbroken’.. A personal account of Ally’s coming of age story.
“Bigger is about breaking through the obstacles that convince us to accept less than what we are. I’ve come to understand failure as a source of strength instead of something I should be scared of. I wrote this thinking about the many things I want to accomplish in my life, and the feeling I get when I close my eyes and picture myself standing on a big stage, staring out into a sea of faces. That’s my dream. And however challenging it might be getting there, this song is my own reminder that perseverance and dedication are stronger than the fear of failure.” Ally Cribb
Blending the feel of an anthemic ballad with a high energy pop song, ‘Bigger’ is sure to uplift and energise you while addressing the deeper parts.
