Square

Atlanta, US based singer/songwriter, Katie Belle joins us to talk all about her single release, ‘Daughter’.

Having appeared on the seventeenth season of American Idol, Katie Belle’s music career began at age 14, when she joined the Teen Nation Tour, performing in stadiums and theatres around America.

Known for her captivating, breathy vocals and her standout stage presence, Katie Belle creates pop music filled with emotion and nostalgia, while still maintaining an upbeat and catchy feel.

Katie Belle’s latest track, ‘Daughter’ was written by an incredible writing team including Jacqueline Miskanic (JAX), Michael Natter, Nancy Natter, Josquin Des Pres and Fabien Renoult and was produced by Josquin Des Pres and Fabien Renoult at Track Star Studios.

The track speaks of an emotional journey taken as a relationship ends.. it’s a metaphorical journey of salvation, solace and redemption of a broken heart.

Gently starting to tell the story, the song begins with the sound of piano chords and the stunning vocals of Katie Belle. As the track builds, the power and emotion coming from Katie’s vocals build and are enhanced by the atmospheric instrumentation and percussion.

“The first time I heard the track it gave me chill bumps. I hope my listeners will hear and feel this same emotion” Katie Belle

Tell us a little about who you are in everyday life.

I’m 22 and from Georgia, I’m a Leo!

I love being extra and finding anyway to be creative.

You will find me constantly listening to music and looking for my next project.

I keep my circles small but I love connecting with people, making new friends and networking.

What was it that first got you into music?

I think music was always in me.

It wasn’t something I chose but something that chose me.

I used to dance, so I was like 2 1/2 or 3 the first time I was ever on a stage, that’s where I developed my love for performance.

I’ve always sang.

Around the house, little shows in the living room when we would have company over for dinner, at church.

My first life changing memory of wanting to be a professional singer, was in 4th grade when I played Dina in School House Rock for my school play.

I sang the finale song and got a standing ovation, the rest is history.

How would you describe the feel of your music?

I’d say I have a chill pop vibe.

Some of it can be edgy, some of it is more EDM and some is straight pop.

I used to sing country and I also have a single that’s almost R&B.

With my music I never focus on a specific sound.

That to me is like waking up every morning and wearing the exact same outfit.

I never put myself in a box I just make what feels good and makes sense for me in the moment.

The overall feel is just me 🙂

You have released your new single, ‘Daughter’.. tell us a little about how this song came about.

I love the story of Daughter, this song is a blessing.

It was written by Michael Natter, Nancy Natter, Fabien Renoult and Jax ,who was the original artist and Josquin Des Pres.

Josquin Des Pres and Fabien Renoult were the producers.

Up until now I have only released music that I’ve been a part of writing.

When Daughter was presented to me it was different, it felt like it was already mine.

I related so deeply to the lyrics and the melody, it felt like everything I wanted to say but could never find the words for.

Long story short I got the honor of recording it and it was released 11/19/21.

What does ‘Daughter’ mean to you?

Daughter for me is my truth.

The final healing from a relationship with someone who so ruthlessly broke my heart, and continued to try to break it even years after we weren’t together.

I used to risk everything for revenge, but I reached a point where I know what goes around comes around.

And now he has a daughter.

What is your creative process like, when you are creating your music?

There’s not really one specific way I get creative but I never ever force it. I never make myself sit and write words that mean nothing or conjure feeling that aren’t there.

I’m constantly romanticizing my life and making it poetic.

Finding the beauty in things, the drama, and the humor.

The way I look at my real life experiences and emotions, keeps my creativity flowing but until a line pops into my head and I think “yea I need to write this down” I never make it a chore to create.

Has there been anything along the releasing process that you would do differently next time?

Absolutely.

There’s always room to grow and learn.

With this release there was some miscommunication between me and my team on the music video actually!

Ultimately everything got figured out but there’s always room for improvement.

What would success in your music look like to you?

I think success for me would definitely getting to tour.

Getting to meet people from other cities that relate to you and understand you when they’ve literally never met you before… but then you get a chance to meet and share an experience together????

That’s the peak of being an artist for me.

Of course awards and numbers are fun and apart of the job but connecting with my fans through my lyrics and music is what matters most to me.

Is there any message that you would like to share with your audience?

I just want to say thank you for the support on this new song and music video.

I’m so blessed to be in the position to do what I do and share it with you.

I can’t wait for 2022 and all of the more ways we will share and connect.

Love you all – Katie Belle
