After their paths crossed in a moment on the Illawarra music scene, talented Australian singer/songwriters, LEO and Chad Steele have come together to bring you a collaborative Christmas single, ‘North Star’ that will have you relaxing straight into the Christmas season and looking out for that subtle mistletoe.
“North Star is based on the gentle sweetness of how it can feel to share this time of year with someone special. The lyrics paint the picture of a couple enjoying the Christmas season together, relaxing with a drink by the tree and going for a lazy drive on a warm summer night to look at the decorated houses around town. And of course, there’s mistletoe.”
Produced by James Lawrence, the track brings a warm and folky pop feel with the festive holiday vibes of Christmas.
Furthering the collaborative efforts, the pair incorporated the artwork of Illawarra based artist, Kit Fox, who captured the down to earth, loving vibe of the song.
The creation of the track did come with a number of challenges to overcome, as the project was undertaken during the second lockdown of Greater Sydney. To ensure that the track would be ready to share for Christmas, LEO and Chad worked remotely, sending lyrics and recordings back and forth until they had a song they were happy with.

More About Chad Steele
Chad started learning piano 17 years ago, and after playing a few shows in his youth, went on to form Popasaurus with his songwriting partner, Adam Agazzi. So far, they’ve released two EPs, with more music on the way. Recently, Chad also joined The Huneez and co-writes for the pop trio, with whom he continues to perform.
For the last 5 years, Chad has been working in his bedroom on a series of solo songs, which he has coalesced into an album: Waking Dream. Mildly nostalgic, pensive, and melancholic, yet brimming with energy, Waking Dream is an ode to futures that were never written; paths that were never walked.
