Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Jason Nott got his start at 15 years old touring as the guitarist of Drive A, a punk band he joined in his Junior year of high school. Throughout the mid 2000s, Drive A hit the road with the likes of The Used, Third Eye Blind, Papa Roach, & many more. After years of touring, their sophomore album landed on the billboard charts, coupled with a music video in heavy rotation on MTV. But at the height of their success, the band called it quits. Jason decided to take on a new role as singer & songwriter of Beachwood Coyotes. The artist found more success with Beachwood Coyotes, their music landing placements on major TV shows like Shameless, Teen Mom, & more.
Now after nearly two decades of writing and performing in various bands, Jason is venturing into exciting new territory as a solo artist. With music that is reminiscent of your favorite 90s pop rock bands – a step in a different direction than Jason’s previous work.
His new single “I Was Dating All My Friends” perfectly encapsulates teenage nostalgia while feeling fresh. It’s the kind of song that inspires the feeling one gets on a summer roadtrip with friends while windows are down and spirits are high. The lively sound contrasts with lyrics that explore reclaiming self-worth and moving on from unfulfilling relationships. The single is a collaboration with Los Angeles-based producers Rich Zahniser (The Hippos) and Daniel Wonacott (Senses Fail, Finch).
“Songwriting can be a vulnerable process because I never want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but at the same time, it can be cathartic to channel my darkest secrets into pop songs. I like that the track will make you dance but also brings about a lyrical depth that many of us can resonate with. It’s been an incredibly humbling journey into new territory.
