For 27 year old Swedish pop singer-songwriter and producer, BoBo, music has been his companion from a young age and way of sorting through the family challenges faced with a mother struggling with mental illness and a father battling leukaemia.
”We had a grand piano in the living room and my sister used to teach me short melodies and songs on
it back in Germany. As a kid I used to spend countless hours in front of it because it was the only thing
that could take my mind off my fathers treatment. Eventually my reality crossed over into music and in
my junior high-school years I started to write lyrics over the few chords that I knew”. BoBo
As his father recovered from his illness, he became a strength and encouragement to Bobo to pursue his music and he went on to study at BIMM London in a Bachelor’s degree in Popular Music Performance and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in a Master’s Degree in Music Production.
Self written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered, the latest EP release from BoBo, ‘Brand New’ contains six tracks of heart-wrenching lyricism about becoming the best version of yourself and standing up for who you are.
“I’ve spent countless hours on these tracks. Searching through old voice memos on my old phone, rewriting lyrics and translating emotions into different sound. Originally I had 13 tracks ready to release but then I decided that I start off with these 6 and since they were created out of really impactful moments in my life.” BoBo
The tracks provide an atmospheric soundscape that fuses the sounds of 80’s pop, modern electronic sounds and funk music, with BoBo’s signature authentic vocal sound.
‘Brand New’ is a journey through life challenges that so many of us can relate to and is a discovery that you absolutely do not want to miss!
