Jaylon’s ‘Baby Boy’ EP Channels Lagos Heat and Bristol Cool Into a Sleek Afro R&B Sound

Nigerian-born, Bristol-based producer and songwriter Jaylon has released his new EP Baby Boy — a collection of rhythm-forward, genre-blending tracks rooted in his life across Ibadan, Lagos, and the UK. Grounded in Afro R&B and enriched with touches of dancehall, pop, and soul, Baby Boy is Jaylon at his most self-assured – exploring joy, movement and identity with a laid-back confidence that doesn’t try too hard to impress.

Known for his clean, melodic production and stripped-back groove sensibilities, Jaylon builds Baby Boy around bright chord progressions, steady basslines, and fluid vocal features. Each track offers a different texture, shaped by collaborators including Azanti, Minz, Anjeli, Phaemous, Remy Baggins, and Ramoni — a carefully curated lineup of talent from across Africa and its diaspora.

This is where I let myself enjoy the process”, Jaylon shares. “It’s nostalgic, but still fresh—happy chords, chill vibes, and beats that move you without overwhelming. It’s a soundscape of who I am.
