Joining us today is an incredibly talented rising star—New York-based singer-songwriter Camryn Quinlan. With her deeply introspective and heartfelt songwriting, Camryn has already captured audiences with her remarkable maturity and polished sound. Her latest single, ‘ex box’, out now, blends electronic-pop elements with raw emotion, marking an exciting new chapter ahead of her debut EP If We’re Being Honest. Let’s dive into her journey, creative process, and what’s next!

– What first inspired you to start making music, and do you remember the moment you knew you wanted to pursue it seriously?
I had always been pulled to music ever since I could talk, and I’ve always known that this is what I am meant to do.

– Your new track ‘ex box’ has such a relatable concept. How did the idea first come to you and what was the songwriting process like?
I came up with the idea when I was making my own Ex Box. I wrote the song in under an hour and that usually happens when the song is meant to be.

– The track blends electronic and organic elements beautifully. How did you and Baldvin Hlynsson approach the production to achieve this balance?
I think we knew the song on its own sounded so pure and beautiful with such a simple instrumental, so we decided to run with that but also make it modern with a ‘pop’ touch.

– You wrote ‘ex box’ at the start of high school but recorded it years later. How did your perspective on the song evolve over time?
I think my perspective didn’t really change much at all. It’s relatable at any age.

– How do you balance being a young artist with the demands of school, music, and personal life?
I have a tight schedule hahaha. I make it work by making time for everything and prioritizing the things that feel the most important at the moment.

– Is there a particular lyric from ‘ex box’ or the EP that you’re especially proud of?
I think the whole chorus makes me really proud. I love how the ending line ties the whole song together.

– Your upcoming EP If We’re Being Honest is dropping soon. What can listeners expect from it?
Listeners can expect more songs that are very personal to me and my experiences so far in life. I think it is unique but also relatable for everyone, but expect a lot of heartbreak.

– Do you have a favorite song on the EP or one that feels particularly personal to you?
My favorite song is definitely Ruin It. It’s my most emotional and raw songs lyrically and I am really proud of how it came out.

– What’s one dream venue or festival you’d love to perform at in the future?
I’d love to perform at MSG or Coachella.

– What’s next for you after If We’re Being Honest? Any new projects or surprises in the works?
Definitely some new songs flying around. I don’t have a problem with coming up with crazy new stories or lyrics.
